Virat Kohli scored the most fifties in IPL! Left David Warner's records behind

RCB superstar batsman Virat Kohli has done another amazing feat in IPL 2025! With his 67th half century, he broke David Warner’s record of 66 fifties and became the batsman with the most half centuries in IPL history. This historic moment came on 20 April, during the thrilling match of PBKS vs RCB played in Mullanpur, where Kohli scored a brilliant 67 runs against the stormy bowlers of Punjab and led the team to a tremendous victory.

How was the record made?

In the match played against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur last week, Kohli equaled Warner’s record. But in this match against PBKS on Sunday, by scoring a fifty in the fourth consecutive match, he proved that “records are made for him!” Kohli’s innings was the key behind this victory, in which he achieved this milestone in 252 innings. On the other hand, Warner took 246 innings to make this record.

IPL journey of “King Kohli”

This child prodigy from Delhi played his first IPL match in 2008 and since then the RCB jersey has resounded with the thunder of his bat. Kohli is not only the leading run-scorer in IPL in terms of fifties, but is also the highest run scorer (7500+) in IPL. This unique record of 7 centuries and 67 fifties to his name proves him to be the uncrowned king of T20 cricket.

Fans’ love and Kohli’s passion

After the match, Kohli said, “The passion to win the match keeps me going. Records are just a part of the game.” His passion was greatly appreciated by fans on social media. Trending #KingKohli and #IPL2025, fans tweeted – “Kohli’s charm is not less even at the age of 35, keep moving ahead King!”

At the same time, legends like Rohit Sharma (45 fifties + 2 centuries) and AB de Villiers and KL Rahul (43-43 fifties) are also part of this elite club.

In the PBKS vs RCB match played in Mullanpur, Kohli not only helped the team chase the target of 158 runs by scoring an unbeaten 73 runs in 54 balls, but also earned the title of “Fifty King”. He shared a 100+ run partnership with young partner Devdutt Padikkal, due to which no one could stop RCB’s victory. After Padikkal’s 48 runs, Jitesh Sharma sealed the match by hitting the winning six in the last over.

Will Kohli be able to get RCB the IPL trophy for the first time?

This question has been a topic of discussion after every match this season. At the moment, Kohli’s form is a big hope for RCB. If this passion remains, then the final of IPL 2025 may be special for Bangalore!
