Only 9 runs were needed in the last over, but Avesh Khan bowled killer yorkers one after the other and dashed RR’s hopes of victory!

LSG’s Last-Over Heist in Jaipur
Rajasthan Royals (RR)’s IPL 2025 struggle is not over yet. For the second time in a row, in an “easy” chase, their batting line-up deceived the opponent. In the packed stadium of Jaipur, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)’s Avesh Khan proved to everyone with his death bowling that pressure is just one word for him! 9 runs were needed in the last over, but Avesh gave only 5 runs to RR and took two wickets to give LSG a 4 run win.
What happened in the final over ?
RR was dominating till 17 overs: 25 runs were needed in 18 balls, Yashasvi Jaiswal (74) was set.
Avesh’s Double Whammy Over: In the 18th over, first got Jaiswal out with a yorker, then got Riyan Parag out LBW and put RR in trouble.
Drama of the last ball: Shubham Dubey needed 4 runs on the last ball, but Avesh’s left boot blocked his shot. David Miller had dropped the ball earlier, but the story of redemption remained incomplete!
Hetmyer and Shardul’s ‘Dosti Kya Cheez Hai’ Moment
Shimron Hetmyer gave hope to LSG in the last over, but Shardul Thakur took revenge for his mistake:
8 runs off 5 balls: Hetmyer made a mistake by hitting an edge and taking two runs from Shardul (third man). Shardul was sent to square leg and what happened?
Next Ball: Hetmyer flicked, but the ball went straight into Shardul’s hands! Avesh again bowled a tremendous yorker, and saved the match with his shoe on the final ball.
14 years old ‘Little Master Blaster’ created a sensation!
The youngest player in IPL history, Vaibhav Suryavanshi (14 years, 23 days), came as an Impact Player for LSG and surprised everyone:
Sixer on the first ball! He shocked everyone by hitting a six on cover off Shardul Thakur’s fast ball.
Sixer again on the third ball! He sent Avesh Khan down-the-ground.
34 runs on debut: Rishabh Pant brought in Aiden Markram, who stumped Suryavanshi. But he put RR in a strong position by making a brilliant 85-run partnership with Yashasvi in 8.3 overs.
Jaiswal scored a fifty, but did not win
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his 4th half century in 31 balls in the last 5 innings. His style of playing spin bowling was tremendous, but a mistake gave LSG a chance. Avesh changed the direction of the match by dismissing Jaiswal.
Abdul Samad: LSG’s ‘Silent Assassin’!
Along with the heroics of the bowlers, Abdul Samad also played a big role in the victory:
30 runs in 10 balls! LSG was 54/3 when Pant was out. Samad hit 27 runs to Sandeep Sharma in the last over to take LSG to 181.
Impact Sub Twist: Ayush Badoni (31ball 50) helped stop the collapse but did not get a chance to bring in Mayank Yadav.
Final Thought: Is RR now out of the Playoffs?
This match of Jaipur will be remembered by cricket lovers for a long time! On one side, the fearless batting of a 14 year old kid, on the other side, Avesh Khan’s ice-cool finish. LSG is now in the top-4, while RR now needs a comeback.
