Gujarat Titans move to second place. Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 38 runs in Ahmedabad on May 2 to finish second in the IPL 2025 points table. This was GT’s 7th win of the season, strengthening their hold in the playoff race with 14 points. Superb bowling from Prasidh Krishna (2 wickets) and Mohammed Siraj (2 wickets) restricted SRH to 186 runs.
Mumbai Indians remain on top!
A day earlier, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Rajasthan Royals by 100 runs to register 6 consecutive wins and remain in first place with 14 points. MI’s journey under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya has been fantastic, where Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav showed their batting prowess.

GT vs SRH: Turning point of the match
GT batted first and set a target of 224 runs thanks to the innings of Shubman Gill (76 runs) and Jos Butler (64 runs). Abhishek Sharma (74 runs) fought for SRH, but the team collapsed to 186/6 in front of the bowlers. Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets to ensure SRH’s defeat.
Race for the playoffs: Who will survive?
The battle for the top-4 in the points table has heated up now. Net run rate will be the deciding factor between GT, MI, and RCB. Punjab Kings are also challenging with 12 points. Teams like CSK and SRH are already out.
