Brevis’ Storm: 11th Over Changed the Match!
CSK’s innings faltered in the beginning when the team was stuck at 60/5. But Dewald Brevis turned the match around by hitting 6, 4, 4, 6, 6, 4 in Vaibhav Arora’s 11th over. In this over, KKR’s Angkrishna Raghuvanshi dropped Brevis’ catch, which proved costly for the team. Brevis hit 4 fours and 4 sixes in his innings of 52 runs in 25 balls.

Noor Ahmed: Chennai’s ‘Spin Magician’!
Noor Ahmed‘s contribution was important in CSK’s victory against KKR. He kept the Kolkata batsmen tied down by taking 4 wickets (31 runs). Noor dismissed Andre Russell (38 runs) and Raghuvanshi (1 run) in two consecutive balls, which slowed down KKR’s run rate.
KKR innings: Rahane-Narine laid the foundation, but…
Winning the toss and batting first, KKR scored 179/6. Ajinkya Rahane (48 runs) and Sunil Narine (26 runs) gave the team a strong start with a brilliant partnership of 58 runs. Narine dominated by scoring 17 runs in R. Ashwin’s first over. But CSK’s spinners (Ashwin, Jadeja, and Narine) curbed the run rate in the middle overs.
Pandey-Russell pair saved face!
Manish Pandey (36* runs) and Andre Russell (38 runs) shared a 46-run partnership in the final overs to take KKR close to 180. Russell hit sixes off Jadeja and Pathirana, but it was not enough to stop CSK’s target.
Turning points of the match:
- Brevis’ 11th over: 30 runs in Vaibhav Arora’s over revived CSK.
- Noor’s double wicket: Sent Narain and Raghuvanshi to the pavilion in the same over.
- Dhoni’s cool finish: The 42-year-old captain ensured victory in a nervous atmosphere in the last over.
Impact on the points table: CSK’s hopes alive!
With this win, CSK remains at the last position in the points table, while KKR slipped to 6th place. Chennai coach Fan Fleming said, “This victory will boost the team’s morale. We will return to the playoff race.”
Is KKR still a playoff contender?
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane said after the match, “We scored a good score of 180, but there was a leak in bowling.” The team now needs to win the remaining matches, otherwise there is a risk of being out of the playoff race.
