Fans who reached for RCB vs LSG match at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow got big disappointment, know the whole matter

In view of the increasing India-Pakistan tensions the decision of BCCI to postpone IPL 2025 indefinitely has proved to be a big setback for millions of cricket lovers. The fans who reached for the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to be held at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday were disappointed. However, giving priority to national security everyone supported this decision but also expressed their pain.

Fans hard work wasted amidst heat and expectations
Hundreds of fans from remote areas of Uttar Pradesh had reached Ekana Stadium even in the scorching afternoon sun. Most of them were fans of RCB and Virat Kohli. Shubham, who came from Gorakhpur said, “I had bought a ticket of ₹ 5000 to watch Kohli live. I thought the match might get canceled because the points table was not updated after Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. Sorry, but this is the right decision in the interest of the country.”
Merchandise sellers’ problems increased
Local trader Pawan Kumar had started preparing to sell Kohli’s jersey and RCB accessories outside the stadium from 11:30 am. But the news of IPL suspension dashed his hopes. Pawan said, “Today there would have been good earnings, but now neither the match will take place nor the fans will come. Even if the tournament resumes, RCB’s return is uncertain.”
Lucknow’s misfortune: Match cancelled for the second time
Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium is not untouched by incidents of cricket matches being cancelled at the last minute. In March 2020, the ODI match between India and South Africa was cancelled due to Covid-19. This time India-Pakistan tensions kept the fans away from their favourite players.
Fans suggestion: Matches should be held in indoor venues
Talking to the media, Manoj from Prayagraj said, “If the BCCI had canceled the Punjab-Delhi match in advance and shifted all the matches to safer areas of the country then perhaps the IPL would have been saved. With the advent of LSG, we used to get to see big stars but now neither live matches nor TV will be seen.”
Fans’ hopes now pinned on ‘restart’
However, fans are still hoping for the IPL to start again. Fans like Shubham hope that their tickets will be valid for future matches. At the same time no clear statement has come from the BCCI so far.
Conclusion:
India-Pakistan tensions have not only affected the political relations of the two countries, but have also broken the hearts of sports lovers. This suspension of IPL 2025 highlights the challenge of balancing sports and public sentiments. Despite the disappointment of the fans, national interest is paramount—this thinking has become the voice of every cricket lover today.
