IPL 2025: 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history! Scored the fastest century in 35 balls, rained sixes

Cricket’s ‘child prodigy’ who created a stir!

Rajasthan Royals 14 years 32 days old young star Vaibhav Suryavanshi did such a feat against Gujarat Titans on Monday that it was recorded in golden letters in the pages of IPL history. By scoring a century in just 35 balls, he not only made the second fastest century after Chris Gayle (30 balls), but also made a record of scoring a century at the youngest age!

Made history by hitting Rashid Khan for a six!

Vaibhav started his century in such a way that the fans present in the stadium were stunned. He completed his century on the 35th ball by hitting Rashid Khan’s ball for a six over long on. This is the fastest IPL century by an Indian batsman, in which he hit 11 sixes and 7 fours. His innings ended at 101 runs in 38 balls, when Prasidh Krishna dismissed him with a yorker.

Left Gayle, Yusuf Pathan behind!

Vaibhav has established himself at the second spot in the list of fastest IPL centuries:

  1. Chris Gayle (RCB): 30 balls (2013)
  2. Vaibhav Suryavanshi (RR): 35 balls (2025)
  3. Yusuf Pathan (RR): 37 balls (2010)
  4. David Miller (KXIP): 38 balls (2013)
  5. Travis Head (SRH)/Priyansh Arya (PBKS): 39 balls

Apart from this, Vaibhav also broke the record for most sixes by an Indian batsman with 11 sixes.

Century at the age of 14: Is it possible?

Vaibhav’s performance proves that talent is not a barrier to age. He not only broke Riyan Parag’s record of the youngest half-century but now also became the youngest centurion. His coach said, “Vaibhav’s eye-hand coordination is amazing. He doesn’t let the pressure take its toll, but turns it in his favour.”

What is the future of this ‘wonderkid’?

This brilliant performance at the age of 14 is a sign for Indian cricket that the country is full of young talent. Vaibhav’s innings in IPL 2025 will not only help Rajasthan Royals reach the playoffs, but will also take him one step closer to Team India.
